North Carolina Museum of Art: World-Class Art Exhibits and Fun
August 8, 2016 | grubb
The North Carolina Museum of Art is a must-visit for its permanent art collection, engaging special exhibits, and year-long calendar of events that offers something for everyone. The collection is housed in two separate buildings, both of which are large enough that you could spend an entire afternoon exploring here. Highlights include paintings from the Renaissance, Egyptian funerary art, and a variety of contemporary art.
The special exhibits draw many visitors each year and can feature just about anything, from collections of a particular artist to themed exhibitions. In addition to the special exhibits, be sure to check out one of the many events here as well, including book clubs, college parties, activities for kids, and film screenings. Don’t forget to check out the Museum Park, a 164-acre area with over a dozen additional works. Best of all, the bulk of the museum is free, with a small fee for special exhibits.
